GATHERING - God is with you. And also with you.

Let us begin, In the name of the Father, and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.

Place your worry-stone in hand and visualize God sitting next to you as we say, God, sometimes we don't do what is right. Sometimes we forget to start from a place of agape-love. Sometimes we say and do things that are very immature, and then there are times we think it's just easier to do or say nothing at all. We are sorry God! Help us to do better. Empower us to learn from our mistakes and to forgive ourselves. Open my heart, and all our hearts to forgive those who have wronged me and may I finally … let go. Guide, empower and renew our spirits for the strength to begin in agape-love, as you asked us to do all along. Amen.

Lord have mercy, Lord have mercy.

Christ have mercy, Christ have mercy.

Lord have mercy, Lord have mercy.

God loves us, you and me! God forgives us and gives us a renewed song of love to sing! Receive and accept forgiveness, in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit - Let us give Glory to God!

GLORY TO GOD SETTING 11

1 Glory to God, glory to God, glory in the highest!

Glory to God, glory to God, glory in the highest!

To God be glory forever! To God be glory forever!

Alleluia! Amen! Alleluia! Amen!

The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Love of God and the Communion of the Spirit is with you always. And also with your spirit.

PRAYER OF THE DAY

Eternal God, you draw near to us in Christ, and you make yourself our guest. Amid the cares of our lives, make us attentive to your presence, that we may treasure your word above all else, through Jesus Christ, our Savior and Lord. Amen.

READING OF THE WORD - Good Morning! We now open our hearts and minds to hear God speak to us through the words of our ancient scriptures.

Come Holy Spirit.

OUR FIRST READING comes from the Hebrew Scriptures, the book of Genesis:

“The LORD appeared to Abraham at the oaks of Mamre while he sat at the entrance of his tent in the day’s heat. He looked up and suddenly saw three men standing near him. As soon as he saw them, he ran from his tent entrance to greet them and bowed deeply. He said, “Sirs, if you would be so kind, don’t just pass by your servant. Let a little water be brought so you may wash your feet and refresh yourselves under the tree.

Let me offer you a little bread so you will feel stronger, and after that you may leave your servant and go on your way—since you have visited your servant.” They responded, “Fine. Do just as you have said.”

So Abraham hurried to Sarah at his tent and said, “Hurry! Knead three seahs of the finest flour and make some baked goods!” Abraham ran to the cattle, took a healthy young calf, and gave it to a young servant, who prepared it quickly. Then Abraham took butter, milk, and the calf that had been prepared, put the food in front of them, and stood under the tree near them as they ate.

They said to him, “Where’s your wife Sarah? And he said, “Right here in the tent.”

Then one of the men said, “I will definitely return to you about this time next year. Then your wife Sarah will have a son!” Sarah was listening at the tent door behind him.”

(Genesis 18:1–10 CEB)

Words of Life, Words of Love. Thanks be to God.

We will READ Psalm 15 responsively with St Michael's saying the regular verses and Bethany saying the bold verses.

Lord, who may dwell in your tabernacle? Who may abide upon your holy hill?

Those who lead a blameless life and do what is right, who speak the truth from their heart;

they do not slander with the tongue, they do no evil to their friends; they do not cast discredit upon a neighbor.

In their sight the wicked are rejected, but they honor those who fear the Lord. They have sworn upon their health and do not take back their word.

They do not give their money in hope of gain, nor do they take bribes against the innocent. Those who do these things shall never be overthrown.

GOSPEL READING - Let us rise in body or spirit for the reading of the Gospel from St. Luke the 10th Chapter.

Glory to you O Lord.

“While Jesus and his disciples were traveling, Jesus entered a village where a woman named Martha welcomed him as a guest. She had a sister named Mary, who sat at the Lord’s feet and listened to his message. By contrast, Martha was preoccupied with getting everything ready for their meal. So Martha came to him and said, “Lord, don’t you care that my sister has left me to prepare the table all by myself? Tell her to help me.”

The Lord answered, “Martha, Martha, you are worried and distracted by many things. One thing is necessary. Mary has chosen the better part. It won’t be taken away from her.””

(Luke 10:38–42 CEB)

This is the Gospel of our Christ. Praise to you Lord Jesus our Christ.

SERMON by Pastor Danny

ELW 689 Praise and Thanksgiving

1 Praise and thanksgiving, God, we would offer

for all things living, you have made good:

harvest of sown fields, fruits of the orchard,

hay from the mown fields, blossom and wood.

2 God, bless the labor we bring to serve you,

that with our neighbor we may be fed.

Sowing or tilling, we would work with you,

harvesting, milling for daily bread.

3 Father, providing food for your children,

by Wisdom's guiding teach us to share

one with another, so that, rejoicing

with us, all others may know your care.

4 Then will your blessing reach ev'ry people,

freely confessing your gracious hand.

Where you are reigning, no one will hunger;

your love sustaining showers the land.

Rise in body or spirit as we affirm our faith, using the Nicene Creed... We believe in one God, the Father, the Almighty, maker of heaven and earth, of all that is, seen and unseen. We believe in one Lord, Jesus Christ, the only Son of God, eternally begotten of the Father, God from God, Light from Light, true God from true God, begotten, not made, of one Being with the Father; through him all things were made. For us and for our salvation he came down from heaven, was incarnate of the Holy Spirit and the virgin Mary and became truly human. For our sake he was crucified under Pontius Pilate; he suffered death and was buried. On the third day he rose again in accordance with the scriptures; he ascended into heaven and is seated at the right hand of the Father. He will come again in glory to judge the living and the dead, and his kingdom will have no end. We believe in the Holy Spirit, the Lord, the giver of life, who proceeds from the Father, who with the Father and the Son is worshiped and glorified, who has spoken through the prophets. We believe in one holy catholic and apostolic church. We acknowledge one baptism for the forgiveness of sins. We look for the resurrection of the dead, and the life of the world to come. Amen.

THE GIVING OF OURSELVES - The giving of our offerings to God, is an act of worship. The giving of time (volunteer), talents (help others with what you like to do) and treasures (financial and/ or material support), are some of the ways we express our generosity and hospitality towards each other, and the surrounding community. Offerings can be placed in the collection basket: St Michael’s at the front - Bethany at the entrance to the chapel. Or give online at WWW.OLC.ONE and select the congregation.

Loving God, we are grateful for the gifts you give to us! You give to each of us freely without requiring anything from us. We ask you now, help us to give freely to our neighbors and to our community, being your hands and feet in the world. Using our time, talents and treasures to show everyone how much you love us and how much we love each other.

God, we now gather together around your table, with joy and gratitude, asking you to bless this bread from the earth and this fruit of the vine, becoming for us the bread and cup of new life today and the days to come . In communion with Jesus our Christ and all who have gone before us, we pray. Amen.

HOLY COMMUNION - God is with you. And also with you.

Lift up your hearts. We lift them to the Lord.

Let us give thanks to the Lord our God. It is right to give our thanks and praise.

It is truly right and joyful, to give thanks and praise to you, God of love and peace. You provided us with a vision of our true selves, through the life of Jesus our Christ. Jesus is our brother, our teacher, our example; he is now and always one with you, the universal Christ and source of all, and so with all of creation, with the birds chirping, the leaves rustling, with the angels and our ancestors, and in communion with of all living, within all times and places, we praise your name and join their unending hymn:

SETTING 11 HOLY, HOLY, HOLY

Holy, holy, holy God of power and might,

heaven and earth are full of your glory.

Hosanna, hosanna, hosanna in the highest.

Hosanna, hosanna, hosanna in the highest.

Blessed is the one who comes in the name of our God.

Hosanna, hosanna, hosanna in the highest.

Hosanna, hosanna, hosanna in the highest.

Holy God, you are holy, you are God.

The universe declares your praise: beyond the stars; beneath the sea; within each cell; with every breath.

We praise you, O God.

Generations bless your faithfulness: through the water; by night and day; across the wilderness; out of exile; into the future.

We bless you, O God.

We give you thanks for your dear Son: at the heart of human life; near to those who suffer; beside the sinner; among the poor; with us now.

We thank you, O God.

Remembering his love for us on the way, at the table, and to the end, we proclaim the mystery of faith:

Christ had died. Christ is risen. Christ will come again.

Let us pray as Jesus taught us, in the words most comfortable for you.

Lifting arms/hands in Orans position:

On the night Jesus was betrayed, he gathered with his disciples, his friends, and his family, around the table, He took bread, (all lifting the bread) gave thanks and blessed it +, he broke it and gave it his disciples saying; Take and eat, this is my body broken for you. Do this in remembrance of me. Come Holy Spirit, bless this bread and open us to receive the body of Jesus Christ.

This IS the body of Christ, given for you.

All partake of the bread.

In the same way he took the cup (all lifting the cup) He gave thanks and blessed it +, Giving it to his disciples saying; Take and drink, this is the new covenant in my blood Shed for you and all people for the forgiveness of sins, Do this in remembrance of me. Come Holy Spirit, bless this fruit of the vine and open us to receive the blood of Jesus Christ. This IS the blood of Christ shed for you.

All partake of the cup.

AFTER COMMUNION BLESSING & AFTER COMMUNION PRAYER

The body and blood of Jesus, strengthen you and keep you always in his grace.

Life-giving God, through this meal you have bandaged our wounds and fed us with your love. Now send us forth to live for others, both friend and stranger, that all may come to know your love. This we pray in the name of Jesus. Amen.

BLESSING FOR OUR JOURNEY – Turn to one another and say…

May God bless you and protect you.

May God smile on you and be gracious to you.

May God show you favor and give you peace. (Numbers 6:24-26 NLT)

Beloved, receive your blessing from God:

In the name of the Father, and of the Son +, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.

ELW 574 Here I Am, Lord

1 "I, the Lord of sea and sky,

I have heard my people cry.

All who dwell in dark and sin

my hand will save.

I, who made the stars of night,

I will make their darkness bright.

Who will bear my light to them?

Whom shall I send?"

Refrain

Here I am, Lord. Is it I, Lord?

I have heard you calling in the night.

I will go, Lord, if you lead me.

I will hold your people in my heart.

2 "I, the Lord of snow and rain,

I have borne my people's pain.

I have wept for love of them.

They turn away.

I will break their hearts of stone,

give them hearts for love alone.

I will speak my word to them.

Whom shall I send?" Refrain

3 "I, the Lord of wind and flame,

I will tend the poor and lame.

I will set a feast for them.

My hand will save.

Finest bread I will provide

till their hearts be satisfied.

I will give my life to them.

Whom shall I send?" Refrain

SENDING INTO COMMUNITY TO ANNOUNCE GOD’S LOVE FOR ALL

WE, together are one. WE are part of the fabric of the universal Christ.

Go from this space with a song in your heart and love from your very being.

We will carry God’s light to our neighbors, and we ask God to help us. Amen.
